Our Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a six-month intensive program designed to take you deeper with God and propel you into a life of meaning that makes a difference. DTS will open your eyes to God’s heart for the world and how you can join Him in seeing His Kingdom come.
Your primary responsibility in DTS is to know God. For the first three months, you will engage in lectures and small groups, seek God in worship and prayer, and be equipped to share the Gospel with people wherever you go. Every element of the school is designed to create a space for you to seek God and step into the reality of who He has made you to be.
What WILL I LEARN IN TRAining phase?
In the training phase of DTS, you will engage in 14 hours of teaching each week. The topics you may learn about are:

- Bible Overview
- Missions

What does a week in DTS look like?
A week in DTS is packed full of learning, fun, and serving. You will spend time hearing from various speakers; learning more about who God is.
You will also take part in small groups and have intentional time with your staff each week to process what you are learning. Throughout the week our campus community gathers for prayer and worship as well as Thursday Community Night, where we welcome our community into a night of teaching and worship.
As a school you will also have the opportunity to go to Waikiki, the University of Hawaii, and the surrounding community for evangelism and outreach. You will not only learn about God, but you will also get to make Him known on the island.

In the lecture phase of DTS, you will engage in 14 hours of teaching each week. The topics you may learn about are:

The outreach phase of DTS is 10-12 weeks of ministry in a cross-cultural context. Your ministries may include:
- Evangelism
- Prayer ministry
- Teaching and Preaching
- Children’s ministry
- Youth programs
- Serving local Churches
- Serving the poor
What does a week on outreach look like?
A week in DTS is packed full of learning, fun, and serving. You will spend time hearing from various speakers, learning more of who God is.
You will also take part in small groups and have intentional time with your staff each week to process what you are learning. Throughout the week our campus community gathers for prayer and worship as well as Thursday Community Night, when we welcome our community into a night of teaching and worship.
As a school you will also have the opportunity to go into Waikiki and the surrounding communities for evangelism and outreach. Our desire is that as you learn about God you also get to take his Kingdom into the island.
Every outreach is different, but you will spend most of your time in active ministries that serve the people on location. Whether it be in a church or on the streets, your focus will be to communicate the Gospel and the love of Jesus to those you meet. You will also spend time with your team members in worship, prayer, and processing, along with building new friendships and enjoying the local peoples and cultures.
OUTREACH PHASE
You have a role to play in bringing the Kingdom of God to every nation.
The second three months of your DTS will be spent on outreach with the purpose of making God known to those you encounter in a cross-cultural context. Outreach is an unforgettable experience and a chance to put into practice all you learned in the training phase of DTS. YWAM Honolulu typically sends teams to countries in Asia and the Pacific.

Cost
Lecture Phase: $4200
Outreach Phase: $2300 + airfare and visa to outreach location.
Requirements
Must be 18 years of age by the time lecture phase begins.
*** All students will be required to have health insurance for the lecture phase. YWAM Honolulu will purchase group travel insurance coverage for each team during outreach phase.
