From my plans to God’s plan
I’ve always wanted to travel the world, to see extraordinary things, meet new people and experience what I called THE life. When I graduated high school last year I had no idea what university I wanted to go to. I decided that backpacking around the world would be a good alternative to studying.
One morning at the coffee table, not long after I made that decision, my mom brought up YWAM. She found this organization in a magazine. In the beginning I wasn’t very enthusiastic about it. Because spending so much time in a Christian bubble didn’t sound like a great idea to me. I had been a Christian my whole life, and my parents used to be missionaries. I had confessed my faith a couple months before, but still, YWAM.. I wasn’t sold right away.
A couple of days pass and YWAM didn’t get out of my mind. I googled it, applied, and fast forward three months and here I am, half way through my lecture phase. I can say it has been the best experience of my life! I have learned so many things about God and myself. I’ve made amazing friends with both DTS students and the staff here. God has shown me things about myself and about what He wants from me. I wouldn’t want to live a life without the knowledge I have acquired here.
This is what God says in his word:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:19 & 20
Because of that verse I know one day I will be traveling the world, seeing extraordinary things, meeting new people and experiencing THE life, but with God. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
